Gary Brewer

Gary Brewer has been a resident of the tri-county area for over 40 years. Growing up in District 114, Kings Grant, he attended Oakbrook Schools and Fort Dorchester High School. After Fort Dorchester, Gary attended The Citadel on a tennis scholarship.
Gary started working at his family’s furniture store in Oakbrook (Summerville)at a young age, and worked in the furniture industry before settling on a career working in infrastructure. Gary is currently the VP for Construction Services at HDR Engineering of SC.
Serving the tri-county area as a member of the BCDCOG for over 10 years and a permanent proxy on the CHATS board. Gary also served the tri-county area by having been a board member for The ARK of SC, The Dorchester Children’s Center, a South Carolina Port Ambassador 2016, A Steady Hand (Co Founding Putting for Parkinson’s) and Trident Tech Board of Trustees. Gary is also an OMAR Shriner. As a Liberty Fellow Class of 2023, a leadership Dorchester Class of 2014 graduate and a member of the Palmetto Society in Charleston, Gary stays active in meaningful conversation and private sector leadership in our state.
Gary is married to the former Kelsi Childress of Hanahan, a Hanahan High graduate and a University of South Carolina graduate. He is an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing and golf in the lowcountry since a young age. Together, he and his wife love all things Gamecock, being on the boat and enjoying quality time with their yellow Labrador, Wallace.
